And, activating Fast Freeze quickly drops the temperature to help lock in freshness and flavor, and the temperature alarm will notify youif the freezer gets too warm. This SideKicks™ freezer prevents frost build-up with frost-free defrost, so you won't have to empty the freezer to manually defrost again. You can choose the ideal temperature for whatever frozen foods you're storing with electronic temperature controls. Plus, you can be sure there is plenty of iceon hand with the optional icemaker.

LED Interior Lighting

LED interior lighting is longer-lasting and uses less energy than incandescent lighting. Plus, it casts a bright light on the contents of your refrigerator so food looks as it should.

Rated 1 out of 5 by christine from Terrible & disappointing Our Sidekick fridge was manufactured in April of 2021. In October of 2022 the fridge stopped cooling. The fan blew but it was not getting cold. At that point we had it repaired by a Whirlpool repair company. Fast forward to this week when it stopped getting cold again. The estimate to repair the fridge is $2200, well over the price of a new fridge. Given that a fridge should last more than a few years, we will not purchase this fridge or a Whirlpool appliance again after this experience. We are now left to sell our matching freezer and redo a portion of our fridge to accommodate a different fridge/freezer. So disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ivan-L from They Aren't Built to Last We purchased our home in 2021 with a pair of sidekick fridge and freezer combo. In June 2023, the fridge stopped working. We called for a repair, which cost us $750, and it was "fixed." However, not even a year later, it's dead again. This time, we've lost $350 worth of groceries and are facing another repair bill of $750. Even the replacement parts are failing! To make matters worse, customer service at Whirlpool was not helpful at all. They offered me a 15% discount on a new fridge, but why would I buy a fridge that doesn't last? Additionally, I've had to have a repair person come out to replace the Whirlpool microwave and the main console on my wall mount oven. Does that instill any sort of confidence? Absolutely not. It's incredibly frustrating to deal with such unreliable appliances and unhelpful customer service. I expected better durability and performance for the price we paid.

I can tell you this much, the older freezer worked 100% better with no issues compare to this one. I regret replacing it, all because of stainless steel. This model is crap. We started having temperature issue about a year ago, had a technician out and fixed the issue. Now we have another issue where I have to spend money again to fix it. I have always purchased Whirlpool appliances because of the longevity and quality products in the past, now I am not so sure with the issues I have been having with this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by JoeR from Freezer failed twice-controller alarm Purchased freezer wsz57l18dm00 and fridge wsr57r18dm00 together about 2018. The freezer failed the first time about 2021 with thawed, spoiled food. Repair person came out and said it was the controller and charged us $500 to replace. After the repair there was several over temperature alarms. The freezer failed again in November 2023 with another load of thawed and spoiled food. I checked the partsbag from the previous repair and found the freezer alarm with the wires cut. I did a Google search and found a service bulletin for this model attributing the controller failure to the wire run from the controller at the top inside to the alarm at the back base. The controller is a cheap electronic board and this failure is a known issue. Whirlpool should be providing free replacement with a properly made part. The fridge is still working but now has a chime going intermittently at all hours.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Oksana from I do not recommend this freezer Within a year of purchasing this freezer it started to act-up. The freezer became noisy and the temperature would fluctuate. After a few months, the freezer died and we lost all of our frozen food. Very disappointed. I would not recommend this freezer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Alana from Garbage Do not buy this freezer, it will die, probably within 2 years, and you will lose all the food in it. I just lost a freezer full of meat for my family of 7. I bought what I thought was a good quality freezer, hoping to avoid problems like this. Also, the parts to repair or fix the problem are pretty much all on back order Notice the only good reviews are incentivized, or from people who haven’t had their freezers for very long. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON WHIRLPOOL UNTIL THEY FIX THEIR DESIGN PROBLEMS!!!!!
